Socio-spatial inequities in healthcare accessibility across Metro Vancouver
Research shows that nearly one in five people miss or delay healthcare due to transportation barriers. This is likely to worsen as urban populations grow faster than infrastructure can keep up. Amritâs research examines the association between social and spatial inequities in healthcare accessibility and the burden of chronic diseases in Metro Vancouver, a rapidly growing metropolitan region. Using transportation, facilities, and administrative health data, she identifies neighborhoods where inequities are most pronounced and develops evidence-based tools to guide equitable infrastructure planning. Ultimately, her research aims to support urban decision-making that fosters healthier, more inclusive communities.
