UBC Affiliated Fellowships Master's Competition
Approximately 50 fellowships valued between $175 and $16,000 are available to current and prospective full-time UBC Vancouver graduate students. Students eligible for the CGS-M competition must apply to CGS-M to also be considered for the Affiliated Fellowships. For further details, including application and reference forms, please see the award information page here.
Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS-M)
The CGS-M award is open to domestic students (Canadian citizens or PR) applying to or enrolled in graduate programs across Canada. Applicants may select up to three institutions in their application, and to be considered for CGS-M at UBC, UBC must be selected as one of these institutions. For eligibility and evaluation details, refer to the NSERC CGS-M information page and the UBC CGS-M award page.
Students applying for CGS-M will automatically be considered for open Affiliated Fellowships. To be considered for additional restricted Affiliated Fellowships, please complete and submit the criteria-based checklist to your graduate program: grad.scarp@ubc.ca.
Indigenous Scholars Awards and Supplements Pilot Initiative
Meritorious Indigenous CGS-M applicants are eligible for a one-year, non-renewable supplement valued at $5,000, with a $27,000 award available for alternate candidates (subject to funding limits). For more information, see the Tri-Agency's pilot initiative webpage.
Key Steps to Prepare Your Application
- Start Early: Request reference letters as soon as possible and provide referees with instructions here.
- Gather Transcripts: Ensure you have official transcripts for all previous studies, including transfer credits. Advising Transcripts from Workday are accepted for UBC applications, but official UBC transcripts may be required by other institutions if applying outside UBC.
- Use Consistent Email Addresses: If possible, use the same email in your CGS-M Research Portal login as in Workday. While not required, this helps us match applications more efficiently.
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us at grad.scarp@ubc.ca. Best of luck with your application!
