As May turns into June this 2023, our graduates join almost 400,000 UBC alumni in over 150 countries. As for SCARP graduates in particular, there are countless pursuits, quests, and ideas 'SCARPees' have undertaken with their newly mastered tools, frameworks, and proven expertise.

A word to our graduates:

SCARP's vision is Knowledge in action - planning in partnership. You have learned, in your time in our classrooms and in your community partnerships, what it truly means to actualise what you learn for the benefit of the greater world around you, and to partner with every community your plans may affect.

Now, we bestow onto you the motto of the entire University: Tuum Est (“It is Yours”). With lessons learned about how to hold the power of knowledge gracefully and act on it kindly, what you have gained here truly is yours and can never be taken from you.

ICP Practicum project:

Soul-food planning:
Food as a bridge to building connections

Roraigh, smiling in T-shirt

"At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about what you’ve done with those accomplishments. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back."

"My time at SCARP has been filled with so much growth! I am incredibly thankful to all the professors and scholars I have met along the way that have challenged me and built me up.

Congratulations to all the SCARP graduates. I can't wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish."

Derrick Teo

Studio Project:

Paving the way for an equity strategy

Derrick, wearing nametag, on night he presented his Studio Project

"I'm really proud to have been on this journey with this talented, passionate and warm group of planners who're definitely set for big things. It's been a great experience in this programme exploring the questions of why we plan and who we plan for, and at this point in my career it gives me good context and a wider horizon to make my next steps. Onwards and upwards!"
