Planning Together: Becoming an 8-80 City by 2030
The Climate Action Mobilizer Project at UBC's Centre for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) is collaborating with City of Vancouver Advisory Committee members to promote a community-oriented approach to addressing the city's growing need for more sustainable, accessible, and multimodal transportation options for all of our community members. Building on CCEL’s mission to promote experiential learning for UBC students invested in tackling critical social and environmental issues in our community, we are excited to present our next event which will focus on strategizing actionable steps to creating a truly accessible Vancouver, for everyone from 8 to 80 years old!
Wednesday, June 1st (10:00 am - 12:00 pm).
Folks are welcome to attend in-person at the CIRS building (2260 West Mall) on UBC’s Vancouver Campus, or online via Zoom. We anticipate that this event will bring together: City of Vancouver Advisory Committee members, City councillors and staff, seniors-serving organizations and advocates, community partner organizations, and UBC students and faculty.
With this event, we aim to spark action and move towards:
- Increasing community awareness of the ways in which Vancouver's transportation system can be made more accessible and sustainable
- Empowering community members to share their experiences and to participate in policy co-creation
- Engaging UBC students and faculty to consider intersectional approaches to sustainable community planning
- Expanding opportunities for UBC students to apply their classroom learning to their communities
