This Black History Month, UBC community is hopeful for change

This Black History Month marks the first since UBC President Santa Ono called for the acceleration and intensification of the university’s efforts to build a more inclusive campus. Find out more about the work UBC is doing to address systemic racism.


Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence Website Launched
New anti-racism website provides an overview of UBC’s efforts, serves as one of the public accountability mechanisms for the work, and signals a call to action to confront hatred, oppression, violence and injustice.


Anti-Racism Fund Launched
Anti-racism Initiatives Fund supports initiatives designed to celebrate and elevate diverse communities and advance anti-racism efforts across the university. Students, faculty, and staff members are encouraged to apply.


Advancing Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence Award
Overall, President’s Staff Awards honour exceptional contribution in specific areas that are important to UBC. We invite you to nominate a colleague or a group that has specifically demonstrated leadership on anti-racism and inclusion.


IBPOC Wellbeing Survey
Indigenous, Black and People of Colour staff and faculty are invited to provide feedback on programs, resources and other supports that aim to enhance their wellbeing at work and overall career success. Complete the survey before February 26th and be entered into a draw to win one of five $200 Amazon gift cards.


Have Your Say about Gender Diversity at UBC
Gender diversity encompasses all the ways in which individuals identify with and express their gender. Participate in this 15- to 30-minute survey to share your experiences, challenges, and ideas across several key areas of UBC culture and systems. The survey is open until March 15, 2021.
