You may have recently heard about our preparations for The Break Escape student contest (or you may remember it from last winter). Well, here’s an update. The 2019 contest has gone live. You can view the details of this year’s contest (and great prize, thanks to our sponsors, Merit Travel and Contiki) at https://www.alumni.ubc.ca/escape/.
I wanted to share the promotional toolkit with all of you in the hopes that you can pass it on to anyone in your faculties who run student-facing communications channels (newsletters, social channels, in person, etc…). I’ve attached images that can be used on Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter/Instagram (or can be resized down for newsletters), and have included two poster sizes for in-house printing. There’s also a digital signage slide for anyone who controls a screen outside of UBC’s central digital signage platform.
The contest closes JANUARY 31 2019 at Noon. Although partner communicators can make minor changes to the messaging to match their voice, the important part of the message that they can’t change is the sentence about the value of the package and naming the sponsors. Plus they need to make it clear that it is open to current UBC students only.
The alumni.ubc.ca/escape URL obviously works (it’s what is on the digital signage), but we want to use the tracking URLs below as much as possible to see where the contest entries are coming from (to aid in our planning for future student contests).
General copy (for newsletters, or social channels):
Hey, UBC students! Tired of the cold? Plan your getaway with The Break Escape. You could win a $2,000 travel package from Merit Travel, Contiki, and alumni UBC, your future alumni association. Open to all current UBC students.
Additional copy for newsletters (please add below the general copy)
Visit contest sponsor Merit Travel, located in The Nest location, for all of your travel needs.
Use one of these links for any digital promotion (ideally use the full links with tracking codes in email newsletters or the shortened bit.ly links for social media posts):
We have printed business cards and window clings as additional promotional collateral for the contest so if you want any of these, please pick them up from Pam in the RHLAC or email me and we can put them in campus mail to you.
If you have any other questions or need anything else, please let me know.
