Justin Wiebe is Métis from Saskatoon, SK where he completed a Bachelor’s of Education degree at the University of Saskatchewan. He is currently living as an uninvited guest on the unceded territories of the sḵwx̱wú7mesh, sel̓íl̓witulh, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm peoples in Vancouver, and is a graduate student studying Indigenous Community Planning at the University of British Columbia. He is interested in Indigenous planning in the city, reclaiming, renaming and reoccupying spaces, and decolonization/anti-colonial efforts more generally. Justin's Master's project is a practicum with the Lake Babine Nation supporting the development of a community-based comprehensive community plan.
Currently, Justin is part of the UBC Senate as a Graduate Student Senator. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Canadian Roots Exchange, a non-profit that works to build bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth in Canada by facilitating dialogue and strengthening relationships through leadership programs. Justin is also an active community member in Vancouver, and continues to be closely connected to Saskatoon.
