Born and raised in suburban Ottawa, I moved to Toronto when I was 17 to pursue my undergraduate degree. I returned to Ottawa for a few years afterwards....but my heart and mind had been set on moving to BC since I was 15. SCARP provided me the solid reason I needed to make the leap. I am very happy and grateful to be living in the city of Vancouver and to be studying at such a great school, with such a diverse group of peers and inspiring academics.
My personal interests include hiking, triathlon, trailrunning, mountain biking and pretty much anything that gives me an excuse to be active and outdoors. I am also really passionate about food, cooking, and eating- especially in the company of great people!
My planning and academic interests center around the desire to assist, facilitate, inspire, and engage people and communities to develop ideas and plan for proactive visions of health and wellness, and for adapting to change and managing risks. In short, how to enhance proactive decision-making for increasing community resilience.
Here at SCARP, I am the student representative to the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC), and co-organized the 2010 SCARP student-led symposium.
