Alex Bigazzi
Bio and CV
Dr. Bigazzi joined the University of British Columbia as an assistant professor in 2015 with a joint appointment in SCARP and the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Bigazzi completed his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Portland State University in 2014, investigating urban bicyclists’ uptake of traffic-related air pollution. He seeks new ways to quantify and mitigate the effects of transportation systems on the natural environment and human health, with particular focus on air pollution. Dr. Bigzzi’s research interests include air pollution exposure and uptake during travel, active travel behaviour, multi-criteria performance metrics for urban roadways, distributed systems for traveler data collection, emissions mitigation through facility design and operation, and incorporation of environmental and health effects in economic evaluation and scenario planning models.
