SCARP PhD candidate Vrushti Mawani has been awarded the 2016-2017 IDRC Doctoral Research Award (IDRA) this year. The award is a fieldwork grant relating to her doctoral research, titled "Brokered Borders : Planning and water access in Ahmedabad".
IDRA grants are awarded each year to about 20 doctoral students across Canada working in the fields of Agriculture and Environment, Inclusive Economies & Technology and Innovation. Each IDRA grant is valued at up to $20,000.
Vrushti's primary supervisor is Dr. Michael Leaf and her supervisory committee includes Prof. John Friedmann, Dr. Jordi Honey-Roses and Dr. Lisa Bjorkman (University of Louisville).
