New PLAN 211 course awarded Seed Grant

PLAN 211 City-Making: A Global Perspective—a new undergraduate course designed by SCARP Postdoctoral Fellow Su-Jan Yeo—has been awarded the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Seed Grant to examine innovative pedagogy delivered in the form of an "Ideathon Challenge." The Ideathon Challenge is an embedded component of the course curriculum that sets out to provide students with a hands-on, real-world scenario through which to engage creatively and collaboratively in the process of city-making. As the instructor of the course and Principal Investigator of this project under the SoTL Seed Grant, Su-Jan will conduct a scholarly study on the effectiveness of the Ideathon Challenge as a pedagogic method in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and applied learning.

The course will be launched in Term 1, 2017/18. For more information about PLAN 211 City-Making: A Global Perspective and other new undergraduate courses offered by SCARP, please visit: https://scarp.ubc.ca/undergraduate-courses
