# Michelle Babiuk [she/hers](https://equity.ubc.ca/resources/gender-diversity/pronouns/) B.A. English (Hon), M.A. UBC SCARP Adjunct Professor - Email: - Bio - Courses ##### Bio Michelle Babiuk is an urban planner with fifteen years of experience in transportation and infrastructure planning, design, implementation and operations. She is currently TransLink’s Senior Manager of Transit Planning where she leads teams developing plans for transit service and for the fleet and infrastructure required to support them. This includes ongoing development of a program to provide transit service to First Nations reserves and treaty lands. She brings to this work her experience as a daily transit user and cyclist, and her passion for improving people’s experiences walking, cycling, taking transit and living in transit-oriented communities. ##### Courses ### PLAN 548T : Current Issues in Planning: Public Transit Planning **[Michelle Babiuk](/directory/michelle-babiuk)** This course introduces types of transit planning, strategic to operational, across scales and times. Students will explore the technical tools and methods that support values-based planning as well as the range of community values which can be expressed by a community’s transit system. You'll learn from a range of practicing professionals and each other. You’ll develop plans and strategies within a context of opportunities and constraints, including geography, resource availability and operational considerations.
