Congrats Planning Studio 2024!

April 2, 2024 saw the most successful Planning Studio event yet, with industry partners, alumni, first-year students, long-standing colleagues of SCARP, and more pouring in to Robson Square to hear 2024's installment of the SCARP event we've all been waiting for, and all the insight and fresh networking it brings.

SCARP's vision is "Knowledge in action - planning in partnership". At SCARP planning is taught and undertaken as a community venture, emerging from partnerships built on understanding and believing those affected by today's challenges.

To this end, every year, teams of SCARP students, emerging experts in their field, are paired with organisations who serve and maintain the larger BC community who came to us last year with real-world challenges to solve. SCARP's Planning Studio has become an important part of the BC community: these ongoing partnerships between UBC SCARP and BC’s municipalities and organisations is a powerful example of UBC’s commitments to give to and empower the global community.

Every Spring, we have the pleasure of hearing the findings and proposals SCARP's student teams at the Planning Studio's final presentations. Attending delegates from BC's organisations (from transport authorities to housing resource groups to various city halls) are impressed and hopeful for the future as they take these plans back to their communities.

Stay tuned for the upcoming broadcast of their full reports!

We now proudly present the full fundings of SCARP's 2022-23 Planning Studio.

Does your organisation need SCARP’s help to get a project underway?

The most important projects are the hardest to take up, because to be done right needs research about the problem and about the people affected by your solution. Even before graduating, MCRP students are experts in planning, and can help you with complex challenges. That’s why, every year, SCARP welcomes new partnerships with a wide variety of organisations with challenges that can benefit from planning.

If you’re interested in partnering with the SCARP Planning Studio, discuss your project ideas with us ASAP!
